Organic Elements in Contemporary Color
My artistic inclinations are, by some part passed down through generations of gifted souls. I choose to believe however, that we are all creative since we are created in the likeness of our Great Creator. It is in the way that we nurture our artist within and expound on our talents, that we differentiate our creativity from one another.
In my work, I strive to paint bold, clean, luminous colors through a flowing and spontaneous application of poured paint. Fibers, findings and threads are used during the pouring process to direct the paint and leave impressions of linear texture. It's only after many layers of slow pouring, over a period of days, that I begin to add paint with a brush.
The simplicity of nature is the basis for my work. Introducing the subject in a way that provokes thought and curiosity engages the viewer in the creative process and in making meaning for themselves.
